Campaigns

The entry point to EMM contains a sub-navigation menu including links to the Campaign (this page), Unsubscribes and External Addresses. Below this sub-menu is a link to create a new Campaign. From this page entry page, you can click on a Campaign title to edit the campaign. You can also control the audience that is selected for each campaign from this screen.

On the far right of the Campaign screen, you will find the controls to send or delete a given campaign.

After clicking on the title of a campaign (or by clicking on Create New Campaign) you will end up at this edit screen. For each campaign, you can edit the following fields: Title (used to refer to campaign in the EMM application), Subject (the subject of messages to be sent), From Name (the identity from whom the campaign is sent), From Address (the email address the campaign is sent from), Custom Query (used to modify the standard audience for a campaign) and the Message Body HTML. Under the HTML body field, you'll find links that will insert various fields at the cursor's location in the textarea window.

The Message Body (Text) is not a required field (much like Custom Query) but is provided so that if you desire to, you can send messages that are multi-part with both Text and HTML in the same message. This will give your messages more "legitimacy points" with most SPAM filters since spammers don't usually go through the hassle of creating text and HTML versions of their mailings.

Unsubscribes

When processing bounceback messages, or unsubscribes that come in via reply email or phone calls, you attach your unsubscribes to the specific campaign that generated the unsubscribe request.

You can enter the email addresses to unsubscribe from future mailings one per line on the Unsubscribes page. When submitted, the OkToEmail flag on the appropriate database will be set to No and the email address will be added to the Master Opt Out list (for CAN-SPAM compliance).

After submitting the form, you will be shown a line-by-line report of the actions of the Unsubscribe page. Any failures will be reported at the bottom of the screen to make it easier to follow up on these requests rather than searching through the line-by-line results.

External Customer List

You can add individuals to an external mailing list using the External Customer page. At minimum, you must supply a first name, last name and an email address. You can define up to 5 User Defined Fields (which you can name in the language file to make it easier to keep track of what each field should hold.

The results of the insertion will be reported on a line-by-line basis on the top of the screen. The errors will be reported again at the end of the report to ease correcting these records and re-submitting them. In addition to ensuring that there the first 3 fields exist at minimum in each record, each email address is checked to ensure it meets email standards to keep from polluting the database with invalid email addresses.
